28 hours to get home.

We are home again. Damn it is cold. Brrr.

Took 28 hours from door to door, so it was a very long trip home. People here are so busy, it is a very different tempo than we have been used to for the last two and a half weeks.

The vacation has been amazing. Boracay was such a great place and we had so many good and exciting experiences there. Most of them are witnessed here in the blog.

So it wasn't that bad that Denmark never qualified for the World Cup anyway :)

Bye!

Island Fever

Have had no power since last post, as there was a fire that destroyed the main cable to our hotel. Also we have had some stomach infection today and yesterday, so a lot of things we wanted to do the last days have been cancelled :(

We are going home tomorrow. It feels so sad to leave this beautiful place, especially since we are going home to the cold weather.

The last days have been spend on swimming, jet ski (f*cking awesome!!!), shopping, boat trip around the island amongst other things.

WE ARE ALIVE! :)

The typhoon was pretty crazy, they say it was the worst since 1998. Our cottage survived without any real problems, but a lot of buildings here are destroyed from the heavy wind and rain. The eye of the typhoon passed directly over us, so there was a moment of complete silence in between the extremely violent winds. We are lucky that we have a solid house to stay in, can't imagine how it must have been for the poor people we drove past the other day, their houses was definately not build for winds like that :,-(

Next morning when we went outside, a terrible view met us. So many buildings were destroyed, the hotels bar where we have been eating every day had it's roof torn off and was completely filled with sand. The beach was torn up, waves were really rough because the sand had been moved around. Palmtrees were stripped from leaves, so a lot of the beautiful exotic look of the beach is gone.

What did surprise us though, was the way the locals handled the situation. Noone looked sad that everything was destroyed, they where more like "oh well, let's get started". They have been working hard since that morning to restore the place, and now two days after, it is really difficult to see that the worst typhoon in 8 years just hit the island. They have been extremely effective in rebuilding everything.

We have had no electricity or internet up untill now, but it hadn't really made a difference. We have just been on the beach, eating, relaxing as usual. Yesterday we walked to the opposite side of the island (about 500 meters) to another beach. It was not as nice as White Beach, but it was completely empty, very cool. In 10 minutes we are going jetskiing, the water is perfectly calm again and there is not a cloud in the sky.

I was at the doctor yesterday as the sea urchin poison in my foot hurt badly. I got some medicine that looks really scary and is supposed to soak it in vinegar twice a day. Hope it will get better soon as I walk around like a robot all day.

Only concern we have left now is that we don't want to go home sunday :)
